Stucco Siding Tips
Stucco is a very easy siding to apply and maintain and on top of this it is also very inexpensive. There are, however, certain stucco siding tips that should be taken into consideration to avoid incorrect applications and quick deterioration of the damaged area. When applying stucco some of the most common tips to observe are:
- When applying stucco always ensure that the area is clean and that there is no mildew nor dust present. If there is mildew them this is a sign that moisture is penetrating the wall from some source and if the stucco is applied on top of this then as time progress it too will develop mildew, efflorescence or even cracking.
- Never use the same mortar from the first stucco layer on the second layer even if there is a considerable quantity remaining. Prepare a new mixture and apply it to the area that should be decorated of fixed.
- Always use the best cement that there is on the market. Portland cement is an excellent option. The sand that is used should be builders sand and no other sand. The water should also be clean water that is free from any chemicals that could cause adverse reactions with the substances that are in the cement.
- Never apply stucco when it is too hot or too cold. The temperature should be perfect, because you do not want the stucco to become dry too quickly as this weakens its overall strength.
